I R MacDonald Stonecraft is highly specialised in most aspects of stonemasonry from sandstone to granite and experienced in traditionally built blackhouses and whitehouses. Old semi-dressed stone is also recycled for use in new projects and buildings to conform to todays building regulations and, with over 24 years of experience, I R MacDonald has been involved in their design and layout while consulting with the various bodies over relevant technical specifications.

I R MacDonald Stonecraft was established in 1999, is a sole trader company and employs an apprentice and additional labour as required. The company is self sufficient in equipment to complete all aspects of works, is covered by public and employees liability insurance, and is a member of The Guild of Master Craftsmen (X107996).

Stonemasonry is an ancient traditional craft which has been mastered in the Western Isles for many centuries. Having followed a family tradition, I R MacDonald Stonecraft, keeps this craft alive and therefore utilises the resources of the area to construct timeless and enduring structures. Scottish stone encompasses many features which adds to it's beauty and versatility. As a building material it is resilient and durable with a wide range of applications.
